Six toppers available for hire to club members

Many members will be interested to hear of an important new facility to be offered to members for 2004. We have secured six Topper sailing dinghies for the exclusive use of members and these will be available for use with minimum formality starting in April.

To finance their upkeep a modest charge of £3 per session will be made. We would expect a session to be the whole of a day’s racing programme if being used for racing, or a full morning or afternoon if not. However, if there is heavy demand on a particular day, times may have to be restricted.

Toppers are great little boats and capable of a good turn of speed. Don’t assume they are just a “kid’s boat”, they are often sailed by adults and can be an ideal “first boat” for single-handed sailing.

So who will be interested in sailing our Toppers? Are you one of them?

• New and existing members without their own boat, looking to get some practice in
• Double handed sailors whose crew hasn’t turned up!
• Crews whose helm hasn’t turned up!!
• Members whose boats are in dock, for whatever reason
• Members who want to give their kids or non member friends the chance to sail single handed under supervision
• Members who have no specific reason, just fancy a go!

To hire a boat, simply ask any committee member or officer on duty and have your three quid ready! Happy Toppering!!
