Other training for members

We can deliver or arrange training, usually in response to demand, or give support to training at other locations in the following areas:

  • RYA Powerboat Level 1 and Level 2 – Levels 1 and 2 are run as a single course and cover the skills required for the safe operation of the club’s safety boats.

  • RYA Safety Boat – This course covers the basic skills and principles in recovering different craft.

  • First Aid – As in any sport there are risks associated with injury and the onset of sudden illness. We encourage as many members as possible to be first aid trained so that there is always likely to be a first aider in attendance during sailing activities.

  • RYA Dinghy Instructor -Burwain Sailing Club is an accredited RYA Training Centre, but to maintain this accreditation we need qualified dinghy instructors. All RYA dinghy instructors must have a Powerboat Level 1 and 2 qualification and a first aid qualification. The training covers teaching skills, the delivery of practical sessions as well as the need to promote equal opportunities and the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

  • RYA Dinghy Instructor pre-entry sailing coaching – Dinghy Instructors do not need to be expert sailors and once you can sail on all points of the wind we can provide some tailored coaching to help those interested in reaching the level required for the RYA Dinghy Instructor pre-entry sailing assessment.
