Boats are allowed to touch marks when rounding, but not marks on the start line or the finishing line.

The distance for establishing an overlap when approaching a mark is four boat lengths.

The starting sequence is a countdown from either 2 minutes or 1 minute depending on size of fleet and the weather conditions.

The number of races on a given day depends on the weather with the first race starting at 1100hrs. and the last one to be completed by 1500hrs, with a break for lunch of approximately 45minutes.

There are four series in a year based on the seasons with the qualifying number of days per series based on half the number of days sailed in the series plus one. E.g. if twelve days are available to be sailed then this will require competitors to sail at least seven of those days.

RC Lasers have 2 club boats which are available to be used by anyone wishing to try out the sport.
